This month, I started about 10 blogs and just could not get any of them right. So, I looked back at my past ones, and there was one about “The Why” that I thought I would expand on more. It is often what I ask candidates and clients – “Why are you doing it that way or asking that question?”.

Also, I have had a number of people recently say to me that they didn’t know that mexec offered a particular service. Hence, this month’s topic is a combination of “Whys?” and “Did you know?” about mexec.

Real estate companies are seeing laboratories as a great investment. One reason is that they have people in them 24/7. Unlike office buildings that have been left vacant after COVID. It is a win-win: more labs for the community, and more longevity in tenants for the agents. Many of the agents are also really excited about being involved in the development of communities that will enable technologies for future advancement.

TO USE AI OR NOT TO USE AI

Where do I start? It is a fabulous tool; however, please be careful if you are using it for your CV or cover letter. As recruiters, we can pretty well tell. It does not make you stand out. If anything, you look like everyone else. More than ever, we are finding it is still about “How to stand out from the crowd”, and AI makes it harder to see the differentiation, as everyone is using it.

SHOULD CANDIDATES PREPARE FOR THIS QUESTION AT AN INTERVIEW, & EMPLOYERS SHOULD ASK THIS QUESTION AT AN INTERVIEW?

WHAT DO YOU KNOW ABOUT OUR ORGANISATION?

Employers: I often observe hiring managers at interviews, spending 15 minutes talking about the company, and half of the interview is taken up with your talking. You should be delving into the candidates’ competencies, particularly at the early-stage interviews. If you are interviewing even three people, you can lose an hour or more of your interview time telling them things that they should have researched themselves.

Candidates: If you don’t know the answer to this question, it shows a lack of genuine interest in the company or organisation. It happens often. Please prepare for interviews and ensure you know your CV inside out. If you used AI to create it, make sure you understand its content, as a good interviewer will catch you out.
